The design concept of the new iconic store, “DELICACY,” is consistent with the image of Godiva, which has its remarkable image, elegant, European shell-molded designs an-d beautiful packaging. At the same time, Godiva takes good care of every chocolate making procedure. Those have made its products be delicately represented to the consumers. The concept is utilized in the entire design of the boutique. The customers would feel the interior delicate and precious, same as what they think of the Godiva’s chocolates.

Diamond is always created as gift which are precious, luxury, and it gives people happiness. That is something connects with the origin of Godiva and its chocolates. The project challenge is to design a 4,000 sq. ft corporate office for HP and the tribute space will be the highlighted area for reflecting the compnay’s philosophy and identity. HP applys new thinking and ideas to create more simple, valuable and trusted experiences with technology, continuously improving the way their customers live and work. They offer consumers a wide range of products and services from digital photography to digital entertainment and from computing to home printing. Based on the culture and principles of HP company,  The HP’s innovated ideas are combined into my design, and simultaneously we use the elements from the period when HP was born. For example, the entrance for training room is intimating the old garage doors. The public areas, including tribute space and the working areas, are in use of the contemporary modern style, indicating that HP is open-minded and passionate at innovation. However, the founders’ offices are preserving the elements from the founder’s ages, such as the international style furnitures.

GOLDEN GATE VALLEY  BRANCH  LIBRARY

1801 GREEN STREET, SAN FRANCISCO

The challenge of this project is that we need to design a new addition building component for south side, but simultaneously to preserve the exterior of the historically significant building facade. The existing library is 6,700 sq. ft. and it is required for an increase in approximately 2,000 sq. ft. The primary needs include add disabled access, new stairs, new counters, places to sit and read, and so on. The existing bookshelf, stacks, and case are to be replaced with new ones.

Inspired from the “origin” of a library — books, the bookshelf design is made by stacking up books so the binding faces out is horizontal. The depth of the bookshelves are constantly varying to allow for different size books — with the potential that the bindings of the books might line up perfectly as they face the people who using the library. Incorporated in this design are also places for people to sit and read, the design of tables for reading. The design concept is applied to the new library’s architectural design. It expands to the design of the circulation desk, stairs, catwalks, balconies, and even exterior wall. The profile of bookshelf is converted into a variety of functional and unique architectural spaces.
